Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Associate Director will support the office’s media relations efforts, including gathering and proactively pitching compelling stories, writing media materials, responding to incoming media inquiries, developing relationships with members of the media, and preparing faculty experts and university leadership for media interviews through briefings and other materials. They will also work strategically and collaboratively with colleagues within the Office of Marketing and Communications and departments across campus on communications initiatives and strategies that support the university’s strategic priorities and brand pillars.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA or BS degree in related field
- Minimum of six years of relevant experience in communications.
Specialized skills:
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience working with the media.
- Detailed-oriented with strong project management skills.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing communications strategies.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with multiple stakeholders, while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality work.
