PURPOSE OF JOB
 
Reporting to the Academic Chair for the School of Information Systems and Technology (IST) and the School of Design, this position works as a part of the Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) team, which includes both Architectural Engineering Technology (AET) and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), to maintain a fully functioning mechanical engineering technology fabrication laboratory for faculty and students.  
 
PRIMARY DUTIES
 
Faculty Support:
  • Preside over operations of the laboratory space and equipment including, but not limited to hand tools, metal milling machines, wood working machines, CNC machines, laser cutters, 3D printers and electronic test equipment.
  • Installation, repair, training, and maintenance of lab fabrication equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of all lab equipment and supplies.
  • Organize and maintain stock of parts, consumables, and safety equipment.
  • Setup and test lab fabrication equipment.
  • Perform equipment software updates.
  • Collaborate with student workers and student assistants.
  • Assist faculty in conducting hands-on prototyping projects.
  • Support new hires by assisting with lab development and setup.
  • Contribute to the overall success of Pittsburgh Technical College by performing additional duties as needed.
Student Support:
  • Setup and test lab fabrication equipment.
  • Assist students in labs to conduct hands-on prototyping projects.
  • Tutor students throughout all quarters under instructors supervision.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate Degree in CAD Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
  • Minimum two years full-time work experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience, required
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Full time; 40 hours per week; hours may vary.
TRAVEL
  • None.
 
ADDITIONAL FACTORS
  • Must successfully complete criminal background check prior to starting position.
  • This position is 100% funded by a Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Grant and is contingent upon funding.
