COMMITMENT TO MISSION:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
To implement the outreach and recruitment function of the college, providing implementation of the recruiting strategies for a seamless and successful entry into the college.  Reflects a commitment to success equity, respect for diversity, and an understanding of culturally responsive practices.
 
This position is part-time, approximately 20 hours per week.  
 
ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:
Positive and high energy individual that is proactive in promoting Pittsburgh Technical Colleges CAD program.
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of Veteran resources, as well as those that assist non-traditional and underserved/special populations.(Underserved/special populations refers to individuals with disabilities; those who are economically disadvantaged or come from economically disadvantaged families; single parents, including single pregnant women; out-of-workforce individuals; English learners; homeless individuals; youth who are in or have aged out of the foster care system; and those who are on active duty or are retired members of the armed forces).
  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
  • Three years related work experience.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Computer-Aided Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Architectural Engineering Technology
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Implements a strategic plan for student recruitment in Computer-Aided drafting, with a particular focus on increasing the amount of veteran, non-traditional, female, and minority students, and incorporating market research, environmental scans, best practices, and the other college strategic plan for a full cycle recruiting process of prospective students.
  • Builds and sustains strong relationships in the community, including proactively engaging with community partners and implementing recruitment programs, to support guided entry into the college.
  • Develops recruiting materials and presentations demonstrating the PTC value and culture, with a specific focus on CAD.
  • Participates in the recruiting team activities including high school and community event attendance, tours, prospect nurturing, and the Welcome Center.
  • Travel to career fairs, industries, schools, and other organizations to recruit potential students to the CAD program.
  • Contribute to PTC's overall success by performing additional duties as needed. 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Best practices and strategies for student recruitment, including public relations, and prospective student management.
  • Willingness to learn about PTCs CAD program and its Manufacturing Labs, in order to properly communicate information to prospective students.
  • Application of information technology as it applies to recruitment management (CRM).
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills, including working on multiple projects.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Speaking publicly in clear and persuasive manner.
  • Ability and willingness to connect with Veteran and underserved populations.
     
WORK SCHEDULE:
20 hours per week; Maintain an established work schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS: 
  • Equipment used includes desktop or laptop with Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work generally performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
Must be able to perform the essential job functions.

ADDITIONAL FACTORS:
  • Must successfully complete criminal background check prior to starting position.
  • This position is 100% funded by a National Science Foundation grant and is contingent upon funding. The current grant is viable until 7/31/2025.
