Applications Support Specialist

Job Description


Under the direction of the Director, Administrative Systems, the Applications Support Specialist manages the user account lifecycle including provisioning and deprovisioning accounts and troubleshooting account access; oversees application of role-based user security within applications as assigned; regularly monitors application environments to help ensure that they are up and running efficiently; run data imports/exports as needed; creates and maintains ad-hoc reports; creates and maintains user tutorials and documentation; performs user training. Works with ERP systems as well as ancillary systems including but not limited to document imaging, room scheduling, facilities requests, and appointment scheduling.

Responsibilities

Manage the lifecycle of all user accounts in accordance with College policy; provision and deprovision user accounts; set group and user permissions; troubleshoot account and access issues.
Working with stakeholders, troubleshoot account and access issues to remediate operational issues impacting application systems within both production and test environments.
Create, test and debug ad-hoc reports using query tools to respond to user requests and requirements; requires understanding of the application database design and structures, ability to retrieve and derive requested information, and critical judgement in ensuring that reported information is consistent, accurate and complete.
Develop and maintain documentation, instruction manuals, "how to" documents, including online training tutorials and programs for faculty, staff and students.
Collaborate with Human Resources on maintaining up-to-date new hire onboarding information and materials relating to information technology resources.
Plan, organize and implement attendance accounting for instructional computer labs; assist with hiring and scheduling apprentices; develop and distribute computer lab schedules; assist with resolving equipment issues.
Monitor system resources and performance and assist to identify resource constraints and assist to develop appropriate strategies and actions to ensure optimum system performance and availability.
Support data quality and standards management including efforts to develop and maintain the institutional data dictionary.
Assist with development and maintenance of District's technology service catalog.
Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to functional users.
Excellent customer service skills; effective and patient oral communication.
Effective writing skills.
Attention to accuracy and detail.
Ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
Clear evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Additional Information

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Working hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm . Must be willing to work varying schedules including evenings and weekends.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, 12-month, classified bargaining unit position. Starting date: as soon as possible. Range 27 of the CSEA Salary Schedule, with a starting salary of Step A, $5,827. Excellent benefit package.
Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffey partners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.
