Job Description

Provides differentiated individual and small-group instruction to enhance student success in WCTC science and allied health courses (including, but not limited to: biology, chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy & physiology, microbiology, medical terminology, pathophysiology, pharmacology)

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

Facilitate walk-in and appointment-based instruction to support a wide variety of WCTC science and allied health courses. Apply rapid assessment techniques to identify gaps in student comprehension, and intervene with pedagogically sound instruction. Identify barriers to student learning, and provide targeted coaching to address effective study strategies, time management, and growth mindset. Build relationships with students and course faculty to promote student success.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Masters degree in a Life Science area such as biology or chemistry, allied health, or related field.
  • Subject-matter expertise in two or more of the following: chemistry, biochemistry, general biology, anatomy& physiology, microbiology, medical terminology, pathophysiology
  • Previous teaching experience required; expertise in coaching and motivating at-risk student populations preferred
  • Experience with synchronous online instruction/coaching desirable

Hours
This position is Part Time (under 20 hrs./week) and teaches only when school is in session; Hours and times may vary depending on when courses are being taught.

Salary
Adjunct rate is $40/hour until the instructor obtains their Wisconsin Technical College System certification/credential.
