Centralia College is located on a 30-acre campus in the heart of Centralia, Washington and has been serving students in the Lewis County region since 1925. As a comprehensive community college, Centralia College offers academic transfer and workforce programs, as well as adult basic education, ELL, and personal enrichment classes. The college also offers five Bachelor of Applied Science degrees: Information Technology - Application Development, Diesel Technology, Applied Management (Business), Behavioral Healthcare and Teacher Education.

In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Since the college is committed to the success of all students, Centralia College also provides educational programs at two corrections centers in southwest Washington - Garrett Heyns Education Center located in Shelton, Washington and the Cedar Creek Corrections Center located in Littlerock, Washington. In addition to Green Hill School in Chehalis, Washington.  In total, the college serves more than 7,000 students annually. Job Description

Centralia College is committed to student success, academic excellence, and supporting our community in an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Working in the education programs, the assistant professor is responsible for facilitating student learning and student success with a diverse student population. In addition, this position is responsible for contributing to a collaborative, professional work environment focused on personal and student growth.

The Accounting program provides training to students in accounting and business skills which prepares them for entry-level accounting positions in a variety of settings and additional industry certificates, such as Bookkeeper Certification.

The accounting instructor must have the competence level required and are responsible for delivering: GAAP reporting, Tax, Finance, Attest, Governmental Accounting and Financial and Managerial Accounting content. Duties may include general business and accounting such as the principles of accounting sequence, finance, introduction to business, practical accounting, governmental accounting and computerized accounting on campus and in distance learning formats. This position may also be teaching in the Centralia College Bachelor of Applied Science program.

Duties Responsibilities

60% Instruction, curriculum development and assessment of student learning, program outcomes, and student learning competencies

  • Serve the needs of students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicities, and educational and cultural backgrounds, and infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
  • Assess the local business community to determine employment needs and develop applicable curriculum.
  • Assess student learning and revise curriculum as needed
  • Use a Learning Management system and other technology in a manner that enhances student learning.
  • Demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion through pedagogical practices and curriculum development.
  • Serve on campus committees that support the colleges mission.

20% Advising and career planning with students

  • Effectively work with students to identify career goals and select a program and courses to reach those goals.
  • Guide students through various college processes
  • Advise students on a quarterly basis and track student progress throughout program completion

20% Professional and community service activities, college activities, advisory board, attending faculty and committee meetings and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Masters degree in Accounting or Finance or CPA AND 2 years of relevant work experience

  • Teaching experience
  • Experience using Learning Management system (Canvas)
  • Experience in student advising or career planning
  • Skills to assess curriculum/objective effectiveness
  • Work or education experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience collaborating or working in teams to achieve common goals

Conditions of Employment

This is a full-time, tenure track faculty appointment with employment expected to begin Fall Quarter 2023, subject to state legislative funding. The State of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for all state employees.

Centralia College faculty are represented by the Centralia College Federation of Teachers, Local No.4469, AFT/AAFL-CIO.

Compensation
Placement on the established faculty salary schedule is dependent upon education and teaching experience.The salary range for a 177-day contract is $57,265 - $91,124.
