In order to be considered for this position, you must be a current UM-Flint student, or a previous UM-Flint student who has attended UM-Flint within the past six months, and apply online at www.careers.umich.edu

You must have a faculty recommendation form submitted from a UM-Flint faculty member for each course you wish to tutor.

A cover letter must be included with your resume. Cover letter and resume must be uploaded as one document. Please be sure to identify which subjects you wish to tutor.

Summary

Tutorial Services has limited peer tutor positions for qualified students in specific subjects and courses.

We also have limited positions available for tutors to assist students in learning strategies and computer software programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, Python, SPSS, Excel, and Access.

Tutors work in individual and/or lab situations. Overall schedule varies week to week. Occasional weekends and evenings may be required.

Tutors will need to complete a general tutor training program before they begin working and will be expected to complete four hours of continuing tutorial training over the course of the academic year.

Preference will be given to applicants who can tutor a number of courses within one or more disciplines for which they have a faculty recommendation.

Required Qualifications*

Position open to current UM-Flint students or previous UM-Flint students who have attended UM-Flint within the past six months only.

A recommendation from a UM-Flint faculty member for each course you wish to tutor. Please have them forward the recommendation to mkassel@umich.edu.

Demonstrated excellence in academic subject area/areas in which you wish to tutor.

Excellent oral and written skills.

Candidates must be able to follow all procedures and policies related to documenting student usage and hours worked.

3.0 GPA or strong faculty recommendation if GPA is lower.
