Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the Public Health Research Institute within the New Jersey Medical School. The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for conducting research in the role of innate immunity in viral transmission and pathogenesis. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following: 
  • Will examine the role of hormone, innate immunity, and microbiome in viral transmission and pathogenesis in humans and mouse models.
  • Carry out assignments in the laboratory and help manage the laboratory.
  • Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations in a weekly group meeting.
  • Assists in the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications for the funding of research activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • BS in the field of infectious diseases, immunology, molecular cellular biology.
  • The applicant should have experience in molecular biology, cell biology, innate immunity and host-pathogen interaction.
  • The candidate should be familiar with handling infectious agents, ELISA, multi-color FACS analysis, molecular cloning, real-time PCR analysis, and immunofluorescent microscopy.
  • Experience in processing primary cells from blood and tissue as well as handing mice is essential.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
