Director, Outreach, Retention and Engagement

Job Description

Through the grant funded initiative, Reimagining Workforce Training in Northeast Ohio, this position will develop and implement outreach strategies to increase awareness and effectively build pipelines of diverse applicants across all workforce training programs. The Director will also focus on student retention and completion, strengthening and expanding partnerships with businesses and industry to identify emerging needs, as well as professional development of instructors.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides leadership for the development and execution of the Reimaging Workforce Training in Northeast Ohio grant, focused on strengthening community partnerships and expanding engagement with business, educational institutions, community-based organizations, and government agencies
  • Develops and implements an equity-focused Outreach and Retention Plan based on emerging practices and success strategies targeted at connecting unemployed, underemployed and underrepresented individuals to workforce training programs; collaborates and coordinates efforts with the Vice President of Enrollment Management and the Executive Director of Enrollment and Operations, and other college leaders to ensure alignment
  • Partners with leadership to identify and recruit subject matter expert faculty to develop new and update existing workforce curricula to meet emerging industry needs
  • Focuses on access, retention and success of women and Black and/or Hispanic individuals across all workforce training programs
  • Leads and coordinates college-specific outreach programming and events
  • Provides advocacy for students and drives institutional policy improvements for lasting benefits in the training of women and minority populations
  • Ensures professional development opportunities are available to instructors and staff across workforce training programs
  • Connects students to support services throughout the institution and in the community
  • Establishes and evaluates progress toward outreach, enrollment and retention target outcomes and drives planning through data-driven assessment and improvement
  • Prepares mid-year and annual grant reports
  • May manage grant budget
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Masters Degree in a related field
o Significant related experience may substitute for education
  • Minimum of four years of demonstrated community and business outreach
  • Experience with research, data retrieval and analysis of labor market trends, student recruitment, retention, and completion
  • Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem-solving methods in adaptive situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Ability to create and implement programs, initiatives, and strategies to effectively build diverse pipelines of applicants for workforce training programs
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • 2-3 years relevant experience with issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a professional or academic setting
  • Demonstrated workforce development experience
  • Demonstrated grants management and budget experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) tools (i.e., Salesforce, SLATE, Recruit)

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
