School/College/Division Description
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA) is housed in the Division of Enrollment Management, home to the Student Success Center, Financial Aid office, Student Advising, Career Planning and more. OUA is tasked with attracting and enrolling undergraduate students to UWM's three campuses. The department oversees recruitment, visits and events, operations (application processing), the CRM (Slate), marketing and communications. The team works to attract undergraduate students from a variety of groups: first time freshmen, first generation college students, transfer students, re-entry students, and adult students. New Student Programs is an arm of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA), housed in the Division of Enrollment Management, home to the Student Success Center, Financial Aid Office, Student Advising, Career Planning and more.

Job Summary
As the Communications Specialist for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, you will play an integral role in recruiting and retaining undergraduate students. In this role, you will take creative approaches to share information about UW-Milwaukee with prospective and admitted students and their families via email, social media, webpages, and other marketing strategies. The Communications Specialist will work with internal OUA partners (Operations, Recruitment, Visits, New Student Programs) as well as university partners to collaborate and oversee marketing efforts to our intended audiences. The ideal candidate for this position will have communications or marketing experience, a desire to create content to support marketing strategies, and a strong interest in supporting the mission of UW-Milwaukee.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or similar discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced by application materials and interviews (where applicable)

    Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two (2) years marketing and/or communications experience
  • Writing experience in various media platforms
  • Experience with university enrollment and/or recruitment
  • Familiarity with web development platforms, Adobe products, and customer relationship management (CRM) software
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS code
  • Experience creating and adapting written correspondence in AP style

    Target Salary Range$43,000-$50,000
