Position Summary

Under close supervision performs unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of park grounds, equipment, street medians, trees, and other landscaped areas.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains all campus grounds including roadways, walkways, parking lots, and landscape
  • Mows lawns, trims weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned.
  • Picks up and removes trash prior to mowing a designated area.
  • Empties trash and recycling s.
  • Trims bushes, shrubs, and hedges.
  • Assists in preparing soil and planting flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs.
  • Plants trees and prunes them when necessary.
  • Maintains, cuts, and removes trees as needed.
  • Applies fertilizer and herbicides as directed.
  • Completes snow removal tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and campus entrances as needed during winter months.
  • Operates snowblower or snow plow to clear roads, driveways, and parking lots.
  • Performs routine checklist on power equipment.
  • Sets up items and other equipment as required for indoor and outdoor events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Equipment

  • Knowledge of standard tools of the trade and operation of power equipment are essential.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles is important.
  • Ability to operate various types of equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years experience in grounds or other related duties
  • Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.
  • Knowledge of standard tools of the trade and operation of power plant equipment
  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • References

Minimum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $2,552.80

Maximum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $2,552.80

Minimum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $2,042.40

Maximum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $2,042.40
