The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Part-Time Instructor, Art for Chabot College. The ideal candidate must have a passion for teaching and learning and a strong commitment to the missions and values of the community college.
The Instructor, Art will be expected to provide face-to-face instruction in general education courses in Art, which may include: Beginning Sculpture 1 & 2, and Introduction to Ceramics I-IV.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach Sculpture classes covering design and concept development, in various styles and subjects focusing on sculptural composition, form, processes, techniques and materials at the beginning, intermediate and advanced level.
- Integrate history of sculpture, contemporary and traditional sculpture concepts, and techniques into coursework and project development.
- Assist the faculty in maintaining the facility and assessing the equipment, and safety compliance.
- Remain current in the field through personal practice, technological advances, and professional development opportunities
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with assigned course outline of record.
- Prepare and grade class assignments and assessments.
- Exhibit sensitivity to the diverse personal, academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in humanities OR the equivalent.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with a variety of sculpture mediums.
- Successful experience teaching Art in a Community College or comparable setting.
