We have one (1) exciting opportunity for a Special Programs Assistant II, Basic Needs to serve our San Jacinto, CA campusUnder supervision of the Director of CALWORKs and the moderate direction of the Basic Needs Coordinator, the Special Program Assistant II performs specialized functions and/or tasks in support of grant or categorical programs where special training, education, knowledge and/or experience are required. Under some circumstances, grants/categorical programs become institutionalized and, in whole or part, are supported out of general funds. It is the unique combination of special program requirements that differentiates this class, rather than the funding course. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Basic Needs Coordinator
  • Provide assistance in the development of contracts that support the Basic Needs Center(s)
  • Organize and maintain all fiscal and management records for Basic Needs Center program evaluation, development and reports
  • Communicate with federal, state and local agencies to maintain currency of funding requirements
  • Prepare and review state-mandated reports
  • Perform a wide range of duties including research, interpretation and application of moderately complex regulations and guidelines
  • Develop, monitor, maintain and update grants and contracts, as well as expenditures, encumbrances and appropriations.
  • Attend basic needs taskforce meetings
  • Assist with CalFresh Outreach efforts
  • Order food for the food pantries
  • Coordinate pick-up and delivery of food for the pantries
  • Create and maintain database of community resources
  • Work with infinity groups and their programs on campus to provide seamless delivery of student basic needs services 
  • Create marketing material to promote the Basic Needs Center

The incumbent should possess the ability to:
  • Work independently, within prescribed guidelines
  • Make operational decisions with input from the Basic Needs Coordinator
  • Read, write and speak sufficiently to carry out assignments
  • Develop and use computer programs and forms based on program parameters
  • Make changes required by program updates
  • Read and interpret complex legal and policy materials from federal, state and local level
  • Enter data
  • Effectively meet all program requirements
  • Work district wide
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, including those from a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A high school diploma or GED; AND
  2. Two (2) years of progressively responsible special program experience equivalent to the duties described above; AND
  3. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
