Job Summary

Provides leadership for key academic initiatives and strategic support for departments and organizations within Academic Affairs. Workflow management with the Provost staff to prioritize, facilitate and allocate assignments, coordinate and monitor to ensure timely communication and effective collaboration. Serves as a member of the Provost leadership team and works collaboratively with Deans, Assistant and Associate Provosts, and academic administrators to facilitate policy development, planning and implementation of key strategic Academic Affairs initiatives and projects. Provides leadership to the Faculty Development Department, Libraries, Testing Services and eLearning Services. This is an at-will position.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Manage workflow, reporting and deadlines for Provost Office reporting to Cabinet, Senior Leadership and various college planning councils. Workflow management with the Provost staff to prioritize, facilitate and allocate assignments, coordinate and monitor to ensure timely communication and effective collaboration.
Provide leadership to the Faculty Development Department, Libraries, Testing Services, and eLearning Services.
Provide leadership and oversight for implementation of specified Provost Office and College strategic initiatives related to SLCC Pathways, etc. Assist with Academic Affairs strategic planning process including prioritization, decision support, monitoring and deadlines, project assessment, milestone reports. SLCC Pathways strategy liaison/Provost representative to the University of Utah.
Assist with faculty leadership and governance. Serve as a member of the Discussion Team.
Participate in committees. Responsible for supporting effective strategic communication between the Provost Office, faculty, staff students, and all college divisions.
Academic Affairs policy development and maintenance. Assist Academic Affairs departments in policy development, revision, and policy tracking.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an academic discipline, educational leadership, or a related field.
Five (5) years of direct, paid, full-time experience at a regionally accredited higher education institution.
Demonstrated success working with faculty and academic administrators.
Demonstrated success working with nonacademic staff and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree.
Three (3) or more years of administrative experience at community college or
regionally accredited higher education institution.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to lead teams effectively while advancing a culture of collaboration, trust and accountability.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a team member in a variety of settings.
Ability to establish rapport with a wide variety of people inside and outside of the college.
Understand college operations, policies, and procedures within a multi-campus environment.
Ability to apply leadership principles and human relations, strategic planning, problem solving, and team building skills.
Leadership and management skills including personnel, systems thinking and integration, workflow modeling and project management.
Knowledge of current trends, issues, and policies related to higher education, student
development, student access, retention, and completion.
Ability to analyze and plan strategically using SLCC Institutional Effectiveness program
evaluation methodologies.
Accounting practices and financial and budget planning principles.
Ability to demonstrate effective fiscal and budget management skills.
Familiarity with and/or willingness to develop expertise in Design Thinking, Systems Thinking, and other contemporary strategic planning best practices.
Computer skills such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Banner and Canvas.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
