Faculty - Assistant Professor - Cybersecurity

Job Description

Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) is seeking a qualified cybersecurity faculty member. The position is housed in the School of Business, Arts, Sciences, and Technology, and it is designed to create a leading-edge learning environment for community college students to support the development of highly qualified cyber professionals. CCBC seeks a faculty member who will embrace a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the management of the colleges cyber programs, including its STEM High School Academy, and related grants.
Faculty are members of the PSEA/NEA Society of Faculty union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours (typically 5 classes) per semester (fall and spring).
  • Actively advise students.
  • Assist in recruiting and retaining students.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of High School Academies and Dual Enrollment, and respective high school academy champion, to effectively implement the High School Academy teaching model.
  • Embrace various teaching modalities, including on-campus, synchronous, asynchronous, hybrid, and hyflex (Titan Flex).
  • Pursue and manage programmatic grants and designations.
  • Maintain and expand an active advisory board.
  • Collaborate with four-year educational organizations, businesses, and industry to identify partnership opportunities.
  • Participate in various college and departmental duties, including committee membership and leadership.
  • Support student success by creating an optimum learning environment.
  • Respond to student needs.
  • Develop, revise, and assess courses and programs.
  • Demonstrate and maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Support college administrative requirements.
  • Maintain competency in the field.
  • Demonstrate interest and participation in the total affairs of the college, including student, business, and community activities and completion of strategic initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Required:

  • Masters degree in cybersecurity or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated ability, experience, and record of scholarship appropriate to carry out the functions of the position.

Preferred:

  • Post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Career experience, outside of higher education, applying cyber skills and expertise.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for 8 – 10 hours. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to bend and squat. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video displays. The employee regularly works evenings. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
