Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Early College Academies and Dual Enrollment serves as the primary student advisor and program administrator of Early College Academies, including the Health Sciences Collegiate Academy, Criminal Justice Early College Academy, Early Admission, and future academies as appropriate. Responsibilities encompass student recruitment, academic advising, experiential programming, school relationships, and collaborative planning. The position will also assist with general dual enrollment operations. The Assistant Director actively collaborates with high school counselors that may include spending time on high school campuses.

Responsible for demonstrating LSSCs values of learning, people, student success, forward thinking, commitment to excellence, accessibility, diversity, partnerships, and sound management practices.

Develop and manage advising, co-curricular, and operational initiatives for the Early College Academies (EC) and Dual Enrollment Program (DE) coordinating with high school guidance offices to ensure high school graduation, maximize progress toward the Associate Degree and transfer to a baccalaureate program. Programs include, but are not limited to, Criminal Justice Early College Academy, Health Sciences Collegiate Academy, The Villages Early College Academy, and Early Admission.

Serve as a liaison for Dual Enrollment Advisors, registrar, and academic staff to manage dual enrollment operations such as scheduling orientations, investigating registration issues, updating Dual Enrollment guides, and submitting required Dual Enrollment reports.

Serves as a referral agent for students in academic distress, which includes monitoring and record keeping via LSSCs early alert system.

Participates in College retention efforts; implements student success strategies for specific target populations, monitors withdrawals, and academic early alert, and students on academic probation and suspension.

Develop and manage academic support initiatives for EC/DE programs coordinating with libraries, learning center, student accessibility services, and faculty to ensure high achievement and remediation.

Coordinate EC/DE student recruitment admission including marketing, recruitment events, EC/DE summits, and onboarding of prospective students and their families.

Recruit, train, and supervise part time and student employees as necessary.

Work collaboratively with college faculty and staff, EC/DE parents, and community members to achieve EC/DE program outcomes.

Serve on department and college-wide committees, councils and work groups as required.

Perform other duties as requested.


Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Education, Human Services, or related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working directly with students in academic advising, guidance, or educational programming is required.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc. is preferred.

  • Ability to travel amongst various campuses and attend College events, or off campus, as required.
