Pittsburgh Technical College is a private, non-profit, regionally accredited institution committed to a higher standard of educational excellence focused on academic and professional success. Located on a beautiful 180-acre campus in in Western Pennsylvania, PTC was founded in 1946. PTC awards associate and bachelors degrees and certificates within 10 Schools and 30 Programs. PTC offers a college experience that is empowering and culminates in internships and clinical rotations for on-campus, degree-seeking students.

Purpose of Job
Pittsburgh Technical College is looking for an experienced individual to teach coursework, develop curriculum, and provide training and student support in the hospitality coursework in the Business Administration Program. 

Education Requirements
  • Masters degree in field is required
  • State teaching certification not required
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of four years full-time work experience in the hospitality field. Preference given for prior teaching experience
  • Must have education and work experience to demonstrate competency to teach coursework in the hospitality area for Associate Degree level programs:
  • Courses in this program can include:
    • Introduction to Reservations
    • Front Office Procedures
    • Food and Beverage
    • Hospitality Supervision
    • Meeting and Event Planning
    • Destinations
Responsibilities
Assist in degree curriculums and provide training and student support resulting in graduates who meet entry and mid-level employment criteria for positions in the Hospitality field.

Teaching Effectiveness
  • Teach and support curriculum and assessment initiatives in both on campus and online courses.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership and program faculty to deliver course learning materials, assessments, and competencies to students.
  • Support students with achieving course competencies through scheduled course time, office hours, and feedback.
  • Grade student assessments within a week (or 72 hours for online courses) and record attendance, grades, and information regarding student progress in the Student Information System.
  • Support PTC student and employee events as appropriate, such as graduation, which may be held on Saturdays or evenings.
  • Contribute to PTC's overall success by performing additional duties as needed.

  • Student persistence
  • Student Instructional Outcomes
  • Individual Performance Goals developed in collaboration with Academic Chairs
