Job Description

Job Description

Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is seeking four (4) Medical-Surgical and/or Mental Health and/or Maternal Child Nursing Full-time faculty members to fill positions for fall 2023 for the 2023-2024 academic year.  We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated teachers who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.  This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.  Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness.

Montgomery College (MC) has been dedicated to changing student lives for more than 70 years. Chartered by the state of Maryland and governed by a 10-member Board of Trustees, the college is one of Maryland’s oldest, largest, and most highly regarded community colleges. The college enjoys both local and national recognition and prides itself on the quality of its programs and the diversity of its student body. Montgomery College is one of the most diverse community colleges in the nation: 80.6% of students are under 30; 64.2% attend part time; and there is no majority race with approximately 160 countries represented. The Nursing Program is comparable in diversity to the college and community.

The Nursing Program was founded in 1965, admitted its first class in 1966 with 15 students who graduated in 1968. The program celebrates over 50 years of educational excellence. The program achieved National League for Nursing accreditation in June 1970 and maintains accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The Nursing Program maintains full approval by the Maryland Board of Nursing and the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

The current NCLEX-RN pass rates have risen to over 87% for first time pass rates. Given the student demographics and high percentage of English as Second Language (ESL) students, the student success rates in the Nursing Program are remarkable. Our job placement rates have improved over the last three years and we are confident that our students are entering the workforce prepared and competent.
