Job Summary

  • Assist the electrical staff in maintaining the lighting and clock systems in all buildings and campuses.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ability to locate, report and replace defective equipment (light bulbs) in a variety of fixtures throughout all Salt Lake Community College buildings and campuses
  • Ability to organize all lighting storage areas
  • Ability to keep lighting inventory current
  • Ability to carry multiple-height ladders
  • Ability to operate a man lift and other equipment
  • Ability to become certified to operate a man lift and other equipment within one-month of employment
  • Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy items up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas, as presented verbally and on paper.
  • Ability to work in high areas off the ground.
  • There may be risks which require the use of special safety precautions and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A Valid Utah Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to learn a work order system
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
