The School of Global Health Management and Informatics (SGHMI) provides students with opportunities for innovative research focused on problem-solving and making better healthcare decisions. The School of Global Health Management and Informatics (SGHMI) offers two exciting major programs with Bachelor of Science degrees. One in Health Services Administration (B.S.-HSA) and the other one in Health Informatics and Information Management (B.S.-HIIM). Both are certified or accredited by our professional bodies. We also offer three accredited high-quality master's degrees in Health Administration (MHA), the executive master program (eMHA), and Health Care Informatics (M.S.- HCI).

The Opportunity

The School of Global Health Management and Informatics (SGHMI) is looking for a full-time, benefits eligible , 12-month postdoctoral research scholar.  Contract renewal is possible on an annual basis for up to 3 years. In addition to salary and benefits, post-doctoral scholars will have funds to support travel, professional development, and/or research activities.

The post-doc's primary task will include developing data collection protocols, collecting quantitative and qualitative data, assisting in data analysis, preparing and contributing to manuscripts, and developing future grant applications.

Selected candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Anticipated Start Date: August 2023 
 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze  interview data using qualitative analysis methods (e.g., template analysis, iterative categorization, framework analysis) in Dedoose software

  • Conduct interviews with court staff, judges, court participants, syringe service program leaders, and/or police

  • Conduct literature review for future projects.

  • Assist with future funded projects as needed.

  • Participate in manuscript development and publication.

  • Other research tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. or expect to receive a Ph.D. in a theoretically relevant field of study (i.e., health services research, economics, health informatics, or information systems) or a PhD in a quantitative discipline with a track record of publishing in a health services research, health economics, health informatics peer-reviewed journals from an accredited institution by the start of the appointment. 

  • Applicants must exhibit a comprehensive understanding of research methods and data analysis.

  • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of SPSS, Stata, R or SAS and multivariate statistics.

  • Applicants must demonstrate strong scientific writing skills and have the skills to publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge / ability to work with large datasets. 

  • Experience with longitudinal data collection and/or multi-site research.
