Position Highlights | The Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH) at the University of Arizona (UA) invites applicants for a postdoctoral researcher position in Indigenous health with a One Health focus in the Department of Community, Environment and Policy with Professor Frank von Hippel. Candidates with interests and research portfolios in public health issues that affect Indigenous populations locally, nationally, or globally will be considered. An academic background in the life sciences, veterinary medicine, or public health is appropriate. At the direction of the faculty mentor, the postdoctoral researcher will participate in a community-engaged project with the Cocopah Tribe of southern Arizona, with funding from the Flinn Foundation. The project uses the Peromyscus mouse model to investigate environmental health on Tribal lands, and may include a variety of other related environmental and public health investigations based on Tribal priorities. The MEZCOPH is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). It is a rapidly growing and dynamic college and a member of the Association of Schools and programs of Public Health (ASPPH). The MEZCOPH is also a vital partner in multi-college (Medicine, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Nursing) and trans-disciplinary centers that include the Udall Center and its Native Nations Institute, the Arizona Cancer Center, Arizona Respiratory Center, the UA Center for the Elimination of Border Health Disparities, the Southwest Center for Environmental Health Sciences, among others. MEZCOPH is also the home of the UA's new One Health research initiative, led by Professor von Hippel. We are looking for someone who will work independently to take ownership of specific projects through to their successful completion but also will contribute to a team environment to advance the larger research mission of the University. Good communication skills and the ability to excel in a team environment are essential. Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; state and optional retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more! |
