EXPECTATIONS AND NATURE OF THE POSITION
The Coordinator of the Western Star Valley Campus assists with Westerns credit courses and non-credit programs for the Star Valley area and manages part time personnel associated with the Star Valley Outreach. As the agent of Western in the Star Valley community, this individual is responsible for administering and promoting its services to the community in order to strengthen and enhance the opportunities for local residents. The coordinator is the advocate, liaison, representative and collaborative agent with all organizations and businesses for Western interests in the community. The coordinator assists the Senior Outreach Coordinator, Dean of Outreach and Workforce Development and other college personnel in establishing budget, supervising personnel and services related to Western programs in the Star Valley area. Particularly, this individual is responsible for ensuring that all established policies, procedures and practices related to Western are applied consistently and fairly.
The college expects this individual to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual will follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS INDIVIDUAL IS ACCOUNTABLE
1. Represents the interests of the Star Valley community and students with various entities and departments on campus. Assists Senior Outreach Coordinator and other various college personnel for each of the following areas: marketing, program development, and community-needs assessment.
2. Coordinates with School District personnel regarding the scheduling of courses appropriate for concurrent enrollment in Star Valley. When appropriate, serves as the liaison between Western and School District personnel in Star Valley. Completes all necessary tasks for dual and concurrent program students.
3. Assures that all Western procedures relating to enrolling and processing students are followed. Works with Registration and Records to address exceptions and concerns prior to making decisions. Assures that support staff is appropriately trained in the registration and record keeping process and that established timelines are followed. Participates in training for outreach personnel.
4. Supervises the administration and adherence to the various college course placement exams.
5. Serves as academic advisor for Star Valley students. Explains policies and procedures to students. Informs potential students concerning courses and programs. Promotes courses and programs to community. Participates and receives annual advising training.
6. Assures that all Western procedures related to the processing of financial aid are followed. Works with the Financial Aid Office to address exceptions and concerns prior to making decisions. Attends training related to financial aid. Serves as local contact for financial aid recipients. Assures that students have completed the Western and Federal application processes and met appropriate deadlines. Oversees transfer of paperwork related to financial aid to Financial Aid Office on campus. Provides accurate and timely information to students and prospective students on the financial aid application process and requirements for the various types of institutional aid.
7. Participates with college personnel in recruiting and marketing programs in the Star Valley area. Assures that Western is featured prominently and appropriately in advertising and promotional pieces including signage and stationery. Makes sure all printed material follows good marketing practices and Western standards.
8. Ensures that all Western Business Office policies and procedures are followed.
9. Keeps the Senior Outreach Coordinator other appropriate college administrators informed with regard to activities related to the Star Valley Outreach.
10. Assists the Senior Outreach Coordinator regarding the annual budget and recommendations for carryover and spend out requests. Demonstrates the proper expenditure of college moneys through efficient management techniques and practices; ensures that the auxiliary salary schedule is followed.
11. Analyzes personnel needs in the Afton Outreach and makes recommendations concerning staff to the Senior Outreach Coordinator.
Other Duties
1. Attends in-service training and other meetings as required. Some travel is required.
2. Formulates and maintains appropriate records.
3. Operates within the professional confines of established Western policies and procedures.
4. Serves as a resource person to the Evanston community and to various special local audiences by being willing to speak to groups, answer specific inquiries, assist with research projects and workshops, locate information and perform other related tasks.
5. Understands the budgeting and requisition process of the college and is able to use the purchase requisitions process.
6. Maintains an inventory of all assigned equipment and supplies; takes prudent efforts to safeguard Western physical resources from unauthorized use.
7. Maintains safe-working conditions at all times.
8. Keeps abreast of professional developments by attending conferences, seminars and workshops and by reading appropriate professional literature.
9. Participates in college-wide marketing efforts.
10. Participates in committee work as assigned.
11. Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience)
1. Bachelors Degree in an area related to post-secondary education or management.
2. Three years of experience in a position with leadership and managerial responsibilities preferably in coordinating college-level academic programs.
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
4. Documented experience developing, organizing, and successfully implementing academic programs, projects or curriculum.
Equivalency Statement
For those candidates who do not exactly meet all minimum qualifications, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which has provided comparable knowledge and abilities, will be acceptable.
1. Bachelors Degree in an area related to post-secondary education or management.
2. Three years of experience in a position with leadership and managerial responsibilities preferably in coordinating college-level academic programs.
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
4. Documented experience developing, organizing, and successfully implementing academic programs, projects or curriculum.
Equivalency Statement
For those candidates who do not exactly meet all minimum qualifications, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which has provided comparable knowledge and abilities, will be acceptable.
