COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
SSCC is searching for adjunct faculty to teach one or more of the following online business courses during the FALL 2023 term:

BADM 2204 - Principles of Marketing (3 credit hours)
An introduction to marketing activities, analysis, strategies, and decision making. Topics include: integration of product, price, promotion, and distribution activities; research and analysis of markets, environments, competition, and customers; market segmentation and selection of target markets; and emphasis on behavior and perspectives of consumers and organizational customers. Planning and decision making for products and services in profit and nonprofit, domestic and global settings are also covered.

BADM 2206 - Principles of Management & Organizational Behavior (3 credit hours)
This course is an introduction to the concepts of management and organizational behavior.
Concentration on ethical and social responsibility, the planning process, decision making,
organizational behavior, organizational structure, power, authority, delegation, and decentralization. As part of the study of management this course covers such topics as organizational change, staffing, leadership, motivation, communications, and managerial controls.

BADM 2208 - Supervision and Leadership (3 credit hours)
Students will develop leadership skills, practices, and a personal philosophy of leadership. The course will cover leadership theories and effective methods.

BADM 2220 - Human Resources Management (3 credit hours)
An introduction to structure and functions of personnel activity, recruitment and placement, performance appraisal, salary administration, employee benefits, personnel planning, management development, and labor relations.

DISTINGUISHING JOB CHARACTERISTICS
Engage students in the teaching/learning process for a variety of Business Administration courses (e.g. business ethics, business law, finance, human resource management, leadership, marketing, and management).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and teach courses which fulfill the current curriculum goals and objectives.

Remain current with subject matter and instructional methodology.

Post office hours with the Onsite Faculty Administrative Support as necessary, based on students needs.

Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.

Communicate progress in the course to students in a timely manner.

Comply with the policies, procedures, and standards found in the Southern State Community College Policy and Information Manual.

Determine and submit students grades in accordance with established College policies and procedures.

Participate in Adjunct Faculty Professional Development opportunities.

Attend CANVAS (LMS) training for online instruction as well as inhouse INST 501, 502 courses for NC-SARA compliance.

Become familiar with the Colleges ‘Emergency Crisis Response Plan, and follow the campus protocol for drills and emergency situations when teaching face-to-face classes on campus.

Support the mission of the program, division, and College.

Work assigned schedule, exhibit regular and punctual attendance and work outside of normal schedule as needed to meet workload demands.

Meet required due dates for submission of attendance, mid-term grades, and final grades.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other related duties as required.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED
Classroom Extron and mobile projection systems; computer; printer; copier; fax machine; telephone; other standard office equipment.

CONFIDENTIAL DATA
Non-public personnel records and issues; student and other information covered by FERPA guidelines and agreed to in the Colleges FERPA Confidentiality Agreement.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Good classroom working conditions. The work requires the use of safe work practices with office, classroom and laboratory equipment, and observance of safety regulations.

USUAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The following physical demands are typically used to perform this jobs essential duties and responsibilities. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision, with the ability to adjust focus when typing or reading a computer screen. The employee occasionally lifts or exerts force on objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Knowledge, Skill(s) and Ability to: effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in physical and virtual classroom situations; proficient in word processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail; proficient in CANVAS (LMS) and online instruction; demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students; effective verbal, written and listening communication skills; effective problem-solving skills; ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information; create and implement appropriate and educational lesson plans; apply generally accepted teaching methods to practical work situations; apply ethical standards to work situations; make work decisions in accordance with SSCC values; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, and promote a harassment-free environment; embrace and support constructive change; develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, members of the learning community, and general public; contribute toward building a positive team working environment; treat others with respect as representative of SSCC.

QUALIFICATIONS
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is: Masters Degree in Business, Business Administration, or Business Management. Preferred candidates will have at least one year of experience teaching college level Business Administration courses.
