Job Description:

Dutchess Community College is hiring part time instructors to teach up to 20 hours per week in the new technology lab at DCC Fishkill. Hours each week may vary according to the number of students participating in training sessions. The part time faculty will support credit-free training students in the areas of Mechanical and Electrical Technology and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

The lab will consist of three rooms: Mechanical, Electrical/ Automation, and HVAC. The lab will be used by credit and credit-free students. All training materials for students will be provided in the form of online learning materials and online or printed lab procedures. A complete list of training and credit courses to be offered is available upon request.

Selected individuals will begin course preparation prior to the labs opening in August 2023. New hires will complete preliminary tasks required for the program implementation, including:

Reviewing online materials associated with the new lab equipment.
Practicing hands-on lab activities with the new equipment
Learning about the Certified Production Technician (CPT) certificate, and working toward becoming a certified CPT instructor
Receiving Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) silver-level certification for related instruction

The part-time instructor will be responsible for the following job duties:

Instructing, directing,and supervising the activity of students while they are working in the new technology lab at DCC @ Fishkill.
Lab instructors will be expected to work with students in the area of mechanical technology at a minimum, but eventually developing into assisting with electrical, automation, and HVAC equipment. Assistance with learning the equipment and online materials will be made available from full time faculty and other instructors.
Evaluating student performance to determine satisfactory progress in training, and reporting to faculty and workforce development staff.
Administering certification exams to students that adhere to credentialing agencies' standards and regulations
Working with DCC administration to evaluate and improve the training offered.
Ensuring that tools and equipment used in the training program are properly used and cared for to prevent damage or injury to the equipment or students, insuring that safety is used by both instructors and students.

Requirements:

Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience with mechanical technology such as gears, belt drives, and other mechanical linkages, basic hydraulics, pneumatic systems.
Willingness to learn additional lab equipment and learning materials for other parts of the lab - electrical, automation, and HVAC.

Preferred but not required:

BA/BS, AOS, AAS degree in technology, HVAC/R, or engineering.
Prior teaching or training experience

Additional Information:

This is apart-time, 20 hours per week, 12 month position. Salary is $40.00 per hour.
