Riverland Community College seeks an experienced, equity-minded, student-focused, visionary leader to serve as the Director of TRIO Student Support Services. We welcome your inquiries, recommendations, or nominations for this great opportunity.
This position is responsible for overseeing the TRIO/Student Support Services grant, funded by U.S. Department of Education. This includes planning and coordinating program activities, supervising personnel, and reporting related to the proper application of grant provisions and fiscal management.
This is a limited assignment. The current TRIO 5-year grant expires on 8/31/2025,. TRIO grants cycles are awarded every 5 years and we will begin the application process in the upcoming fiscal year with every intent to secure continued funding.

Job Description
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
- Lead, supervise and direct department personnel to effectively perform assigned work and accomplish project objectives within budgetary constraints.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on all aspects of the grant to ensure that the program operates in compliance with all terms and conditions.
- Plan, organize and coordinate implementation of the activities, services and operations of the TRIO Student Success Services grant.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Special Education, Student Affairs, Social Services, Counseling or relevant field.
- Two or more years of experience providing supervisory personnel performance management in higher education.
- One or more years of direct work experience in fiscal management including developing and managing grant funded programs and budgets. Strong written and oral communication skills, analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated familiarity with documentation and computerized database functions.
- Experience in interpreting and maintaining compliance of federal regulations.
- Strong team building and conflict resolution skills.
- Commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, and the ability to represent, communicate, collaborate and supportive services to under-represented, diverse student populations such as first generation, low-income, students of color, ESL and students with disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Special Education, Student Affairs, Social Services, Counseling or relevant field.
- One or more years of experience supervising a TRIO program, preferably Student Support Services.
- Experience with Blumen Online TRIO or other database management systems.
- Experience working in a liaison role with state or federal programs.
- Experience working in a collective bargaining environment.
- Bilingual – fluent in oral and written communication in English and another language.

This position requires successful completion of employment references and a drivers license background check.
