The Westchester Educational Opportunity Center (WEOC), a division of Westchester Community College, is seeking experienced, energetic, innovative, results oriented professionals to join its team. Located in Yonkers, NY, this non-traditional adult education institution provides tuition-free academic and vocational training to eligible underserved adults seeking to develop basic academic and vocational skills competencies and credentials needed for enrollment in college and/or entry into the workforce.

 


Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Seeking energetic and engaging Adjunct Faculty to teach College Preparatory courses. The incumbent will provide classroom instruction to students who are interested in attending college and need assistance in preparing for the College Placement exam and the college experience.  College Preparatory courses include Reading, Writing, Math, and College Transitions. Successful candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and have the ability to work effectively with students who have barriers to employment.  Classes may be offered days or evenings.

 

 


Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Master's Degree in English or Mathematics or a related field and 1 year of practical experience. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required; the ability to establish a rapport with students and maintain an environment that supports learning and promotes student retention, experience teaching remotely, and experience using an LMS and Google Classrooms are also required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience teaching adult learners and at-risk populations strongly preferred. Highly organized and detail-oriented candidates also preferred.  

 


Additional Information:

POSITION EFFECTIVE: Summer 2023

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: The hourly rate of pay is $82.57.  No benefits. This position is fully grant funded.
