PT Counselor - General Counseling-Counselor / Instructor - Continuous Applicant Pool

Job Description

Job Duties

  • Provide In-Person academic, transfer, career and personal counseling to students, including limited virtual telephone and video counseling. 

  • Direct group counseling workshops/orientations, both in person and in an online environment
  • Refer students to appropriate campus support services such as financial aid, EOP&S, the Disabled Student Center, etc
  • Participate in college, departmental and faculty organization activities

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in one of the following:

  • Counseling
  • Rehabilitation Counseling
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Counseling Psychology
  • Guidance Counseling
  • Educational Counseling
  • Social Work
  • Career Development
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Marriage, Family and Child Counseling
  • or the Equivalent                                                                                                                            
(NOTE: A license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline, pursuant to title 5, section 53410.1.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or two years of academic counseling experience at a community colleges or university is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively use technology to provide counseling services in an online environment

Pay Philosophy

Starting salary for Part Time Faculty is based on educational achievement and relevant prior employment experience, up to but not beyond, Step 4.    Further step advancement shall occur at the beginning of the intersession or semester following completion of multiples of 30 LHE at Santa Monica College.
