Job Description

 

Job Summary: Prepares for and teaches Information Technology courses and conducts labs as assigned by the division chair of the Information Technology department.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches assigned theory and lab classes. Plans daily activities for students in theory and lab. Supervises students for both theory and technical project grades.
  • Instructs and evaluates students in a live work setting who are performing general services and repairs on computers, to include instruction in shop safety.
  • Maintains a safe worksite and enforces Rankens safety standards.
  • Teaching duties include various IT subjects and work ethic.
  • Assists in the maintenance of computer lab and classroom equipment.
  • Assists management with developing curriculum and syllabi, budgeting, scheduling, hiring, and other duties.
  • Participates in college governance, committee work, student advising, etc.
  • Participates in available training to keep current in Information Technology.
  • Assists in maintaining requirements of industry standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by authorized individual.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge/Education/Experience

  • Bachelors degree in information technology from a regionally accredited institution and three years of experience in the information technology field.Technical faculty not possessing a bachelors degree in the field shall meet the following criteria:
    • A bachelors degree with the industry certifications to teach the identified technical courses OR
    • An associate degree in the related field from a regionally accredited institution;OR
    • Five years of work experience in the related field from a regionally accredited institution;
    • Five years of work experience in the industry OR combination of additional work experience in the industry with industry certifications OR
    • A certificate in the related field from a regionally accredited institution;
    • Seven years of work experience in the industry OR combination of additional work experience in the industry with industry certifications OR
    • Ten years of work experience in the industry OR combination of additional work experience in the industry with industry certifications.
  • Community college or technical school teaching experience preferred.
  • Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Proficiency with PC hardware, Command Line, Windows 7, Windows 10, HTML and Linux required.
  • Proficiency with a Windows 7 MCTS and Comp TIA A+ certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft server and/or CISCO products preferred.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Computer literate in MS Office.
