Job Description
Anoka Technical College is seeking a part-time faculty member to teach in our Medical Assistant Program. This part-time, professional position reports directly to the Program Director and to the Academic Dean. The primary responsibility will be to teach Medical Assisting courses, including developing curriculum and answering student questions while complying with all state and federal laws along with accreditation standards and requirements. Applicants will also be expected to provide academic support to students, assist the Program Director, and participate in department and college meetings.
A successful candidate will be able to instruct assigned courses within the Medical Assistant program; provide students with timely information and feedback on their academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework, and projects; teach courses according to the syllabi descriptions and with defined course standards and outcomes; prepare class lectures, hands-on activities, and assignments; communicate with students to ensure student success ;and collaborate with faculty and staff to continuously improve and adapt the student experience to meet the needs of the student, community and institution.
Tentative teaching schedule would be two Intro to Lab Skills courses, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am-5pm, for a total of ten credits.

Associates degree

Occupational Experience Requirement
Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a medical assistant.

Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Professional Requirement
Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience or ability to teach Introduction to Laboratory Skills.

Other Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota States vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.

Benefits Info
Full-time faculty salaries are based on an evaluation of education and related experience after a job offer has been accepted and currently range from $40,912 – $85,892. Full-time faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, short and long-term disability, paid personal and sick leave, retirement savings plans, tuition waiver for employees and dependents, professional development funds, along with many optional benefit programs.
Salary and benefits will be based on the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) and the State of Minnesota. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
