Kingsborough Community Colleges USIP is dedicated to fostering an educational environment that is rich in rigor and support for incoming students. We are currently in search of Math Workshop Instructors who are passionate about mathematics and possess a strong desire to contribute to student success through immersive workshop instruction. This role requires an innovative approach to teaching and curriculum design, tailored for intensive Immersion [or ASAP] workshops.

Title: Math Workshop Instructor

Location/Department: Kingsborough Community College – University Skills Immersion Program (USIP)

Position Details: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week during 6-week Winter (January/February) and Summer (July/August) modules, with potential additional hours in Fall and Spring terms.

Modality: In-Person

Compensation: $56.10/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and conduct intensive workshops in Pre-Algebra or Elementary Algebra for incoming freshmen during 45-hour sessions.
  • Integrate technology effectively into the pedagogical approach, utilizing adaptive learning software to enhance instructional delivery and student learning experiences.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress, providing diagnostic and formative feedback to ensure academic development.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records, tracking attendance, participation, and progress.
  • Engage in program support activities related to instruction, contributing to the continuous improvement of the educational offerings.
  • Teach Continuing Education courses in mathematics with a focus on developmental math, employing a range of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in mathematics education and instructional technology.

Job Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in teaching developmental mathematics at the community college level.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality instructional experiences to diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency with adaptive learning software such as ALEKS, Connect Math, MyMathLab, WebAssign, among others.
  • Familiarity with CUNY policies and practices in developmental education.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum and instructional design principles, with the ability to create and implement effective educational workshops.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $56.10 per hour
