Adjunct Faculty - Instructor of Electric Vehicle Safety Training

 

 

Job Function

Instructor responsible for delivery of courses surrounding electric vehicle (EV) and safety training

 
 
Job Responsibilities

 

  • Deliver engaging lectures and practical training sessions on battery-powered vehicle propulsion systems, following the curriculum outlined in course descriptions.
  • Provide comprehensive instruction on the theory and basic design aspects of battery-powered vehicle propulsion systems, covering topics such as high voltage batteries, regenerative braking, and electric machine motor types.
  • Emphasize safety protocols and procedures related to EV and hybrid maintenance, diagnostics, and EV battery systems, ensuring that students understand and practice safety at all times.
  • Teach students about various battery technologies, their characteristics, advantages, and limitations, fostering a deep understanding of the subject matter.
  • Instruct students on the operation of electric vehicle traction motors, including their types, functionality, and applications in electric vehicles.
  • Cover power management, power inverters, AC to DC converters, and accessory systems, enabling students to comprehend the intricacies of power systems in electric vehicles.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies in the electric vehicle industry and incorporate relevant advancements into the curriculum, ensuring students are prepared for the evolving field.
  • Oversee students' hands-on engagement with electric vehicle battery systems in the Electric Vehicle Battery Lab, ensuring a safe and educational environment.
  • Evaluate prospective participants' qualifications and ensure they meet the necessary prerequisites, including knowledge of Electrical Fundamentals, Blueprint Reading, Motor Controls and Drives, Electrical Sensors, and OSHA 10.
  • Administer and manage the mandatory waiver process, ensuring students acknowledge the authentic exposure to live battery systems.
  • Participate in projects designed to improve training and learning by establishing standards, conducting needs assessments and implementing evaluations.
  • Working with CTL and instructional designer, record online instructional videos, hybrid, and online courses.
  • Collaborate with Instructional Designers, Training Specialists, Trainers, full-time faculty across client groups to ensure the best utilization of resources and best practices.
  • Research, review, and make recommendations regarding existing or new WCE-EAT curriculum and programs.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Education

 

Applicant must have one of the following:
  • Associate degree in automotive or electrical related field plus four years work experience
or
  • Bachelors degree in automotive or electrical related field plus two years work experience one year instruction experience

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in electrical engineering with five years relevant technical experience along with one year experience in related field instruction. Demonstrates the ability of multi-tasking, planning, project management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to specify learning objectives and outcomes and develop and deliver assessments, course materials, and learning activities that are aligned with stated objectives and outcomes.
