As an applicant, you are most qualified having the following background:

• Must be a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Possess a minimum of 6 years related industry experience (State requires to obtain vocational teaching certification)
• Current Licensure/Certification
• Master's Degree

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The purpose of this position is to oversee and monitor the Health Science Department.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Oversees all health science programs (excluding Paramedic and EMT). Programs include practical nursing, patient care technician, phlebotomy, medical assisting, and pharmacy technician.

Oversee programmatic accreditations for applicable health science programs.

Develop, update, maintain and monitor health science program schedules.

Determine instructor hours and schedules.

Develop and update Master Plans of Instruction.

Review course syllabi submitted by program instructors.

Coordinate, update and maintain contracts with clinical/practicum/extern sites.

Responsible for health science equipment/supply inventory for instructors and students.

Oversee coordination of the Simulation Lab.

Develop and manage department budget. Review monthly budget reports.

Counsel students regarding grades, study habits, attendance, accommodations, etc.

Participate in program information sessions and orientation sessions for health science programs.

Conduct regular staff meetings.

Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners.

Maintain advisory committee membership/meetings/minutes.

Coordinate employment opportunities between industry, instructors and students. Assist students with job placement.

Assist in the recruitment of students. Attend career fairs, make visits to high schools, etc.

Coordinate health fairs.

Make decisions regarding textbooks, curriculum materials, equipment, technology, etc. Request purchase orders as appropriate.

Handle the drug screen process for students – both initial and random.

Facilitate the admissions process into the LPN program.

Review report cards and transcripts.

Correspond with the Board of Nursing for annual reports and other required documentation.

Coordinate National Technical Honor Society for health science department.

Cluster Leader for health science department.
