JOB DUTIES


  • The Coordinator of Student Inclusion is responsible for fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment by creating and implementing student programming and support initiatives.
  • Develop and execute innovative diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, workshops, and events to raise awareness and promote dialogue on various DEI topics.
  • Develop partnerships with external organizations and community groups to expand DEI initiatives and resources.
  • Develop and implement support programs that address the specific needs of marginalized student populations, such as LGBTQ+ students, students of color, international students, and students with disabilities.
  • Provide resources and support that empower students, and cultivates an atmosphere of belonging and academic success.
  • Gather and analyze data related to student demographics, retention, and success rates to identify areas of improvement for DEI initiatives and first-generation student support.
  • Serve on Title IX Team as Advisor, Decision-Maker, and Investigator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Organize campus-wide awareness campaigns that address issues of discrimination, bias, and social justice.
  • Support and mentor student leaders involved in DEI initiatives and student programming.
  • Collaborate with student organizations to enhance their understanding of DEI principles and assist in the planning of inclusive events.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports for the institution's leadership, highlighting achievements and recommending actionable strategies to enhance inclusivity and support for first-generation students.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for first-generation students, providing guidance on navigating campus resources and other challenges.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors and student affairs staff to ensure the holistic development and retention of first-generation students.
  • Work closely with campus counseling services to provide resources and referrals for students experiencing discrimination, microaggressions, or mental health challenges related to their identities.
  • Facilitate safe spaces and dialogue sessions to promote understanding and allyship among diverse student groups.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, faculty, and student organizations to ensure the integration of inclusive practices across all aspects of the educational experience.
  • Collaborate with campus offices to integrate DEI principles into various policies and practices.
  • Provide resources and professional development opportunities to faculty and staff to enhance their ability to support diverse student populations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will report to the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Title IX Coordinator under Human Resources and under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources. This position does not have any direct reports.

WORKING CONDITIONS

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: ability to use a key board, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

 

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Higher Education, Social Justice, Counseling, etc.)
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Strong understanding of DEI principles, cultural competence, and social justice frameworks.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and an ability to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage and connect with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds.

 

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Master's degree in a related field (Higher Education, Social Justice, Counseling, etc.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts, regarding both routine and complex matters. Requires tact, patience, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. This includes editing work for spelling and grammar, with high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic and complex environment, meeting and communicating around deadlines and successfully managing the daily workload.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Suite, to produce quality written communications, including presentations and complex functions of Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative manner, to accomplish work and participate in team efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the institution with professionalism and honesty, consistently acting in an ethical manner.
  • Interacting with others in a way that gives them confidence in ones intentions and those of the organization.
  • Making customers and their needs a primary focus of ones actions; developing and sustaining productive customer relationships.
