About the Role

The Lecturer Health and Physical Education will be at the forefront of Health and Physical Education in Australia with a strong national profile. They will make effective contributions to teaching and learning, research and scholarship, leadership and service within the Faculty of Education. The successful applicant will have expertise in primary education and secondary education with the capacity to address issues associated with Health, Physical Education and Sport across the lifespan.

As a teacher in Faculty of Education, the Lecturer Health and Physical Education will be responsible for teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and will be involved with subject development (including the development of online pedagogies) and subject coordination.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Making significant contributions to the leadership, design, coordination and implementation of subjects and courses
  • Engaging in collaborative research to pursue competitive external research funding
  • Undertaking academic and administrative leadership through coordination of subjects, and teaching teams and research teams

Who We Are Looking For

You should possess a demonstrated capacity to contribute to research in Health and Physical Education by participating in research projects, acquiring funding, and publishing findings in relevant leading outlets. Excellence in teaching at the university level within Health and Physical Education and Sports Studies is essential, with the ability to make significant contributions to subject and course development, undertake subject coordination duties, and provide specialized support to students on placement. Your extensive teaching experience in Health and Physical Education across various educational streams, including primary and secondary education, is crucial, including experience and knowledge connected with contemporary school curriculum frameworks. Additionally, you should showcase a demonstrated capacity to apply for and secure competitive grant applications and other external research funding in Health and Physical Education. Furthermore, demonstrated engagement with research and policy development in education, particularly in Health and Physical Education, is important.

You will also have:

  • A PhD or professional doctorate in a relevant area
    • Qualifications that meet requirements for professional registration as a teacher
  • Demonstrated capacity to supervise graduate research students;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and constructively in teams, including multi-disciplinary teams.
