10-Month Tenure Track Position

COMPENSATION:
Initial salary placement ranges from $55,714 to $87,247, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $116,888. A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. Representative Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Department members are responsible for participating in assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, Program Review, Curriculum Development.
Teaching in a variety of modalities including but not limited to face to face, distance learning and correspondence education.
Continuing professional development.
Classroom management and decorum.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy OR the equivalent.

This position is for applicants who specialize in the profession of Kinesiology and Health.
The Kinesiology Department consists of courses designed to educate, implement and sustain a healthy lifestyle.
Instructors have a professional responsibility and obligation to the students and the District that extends beyond the formal lecture, individualized instruction, laboratory assignments, and office hours.


These responsibilities include: advising students, curriculum evaluation and revision, grading, course preparation, faculty meetings, serving on committees, Student Learning Outcome Assessments, and Program Learning Outcome Assessment (when applicable).
Assignments may also include conducting field trips and attending professional conferences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Instructors selected may teach a variety of activities, lectures or combination courses. Distanced education certification is optional, but recommended. Experience teaching at the collegiate level recommended, but not mandatory. Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Office, classroom, lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations. Office hours are required.

Knowledge and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Knowledge of health concepts and practices is essential. Knowledge of a variety of sport skill techniques, physical fitness concepts and practices. Knowledge in nutrition, fitness concepts, lifetime activities, health practices and pedagogies related to instruction of these concepts.

ABILITY TO:
The ability to communicate well and cooperate with others is essential as the Kinesiology Department has several course offerings that require instructors to coordinate how curriculum is delivered.
