Financial Aid/Admissions Advisor

$42,542 without a Masters degree; $47,718 with a Masters degree

The Financial Aid/Admissions Advisor is cross trained in both Financial Aid and Admissions and is primarily responsible for student communications; electronic communications for both federal and state financial aid, verification of selected federal aid recipients, and providing support to the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid. This is a twelve-month position requiring some weekend and evening hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Electronic processing associated with federal financial aid programs, including but not limited to:

o Electronic processing of PELL corrections

o Electronic downloading of Institutional Student Information Records (ISIR's)

o Electronic access to National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)

o Electronic submission of reports, including but not limited to Fiscal Operations and Application to Participate (FISAP) and Application for Re-certification of Title IV eligibility.

  • Electronic processes associated with state financial aid programs, including but not limited to:

o Electronic processing of TAP change forms

o Electronic processing of federal loans

o Electronic filing of NYS reports

  • Responsibilities for electronic Pell Grant records, reports, and account balances
  • Coordinate verification of federal aid recipients
  • Assist in the day-to day operation of the office, including but not limited to:

o Student intake and application process

o Answering student questions about financial aid packages and admissions processes

o Advising students on alternative ways to finance their college and programs/degrees options.

o Responding to e-mail correspondence with federal and state agencies, as appropriate

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Admissions Office, including but not limited to:

o Admission applications processing

o Explaining placement testing process

o Liaison between faculty and students

o Assist with open house and admissions events held on campus.

  • Assist with International student recruitment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in a related field or an associate degree plus experience in financial aid field required. Must be adaptable, detailed oriented, and have strong computer, written and verbal skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Good communication and customer service skills; technology/software/databases skills; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse constituents.
