GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources (HR) by performing a wide variety of complex secretarial, clerical, and technical duties. Employee will also serve as first contact for HR, providing superior customer service when responding to phone calls and walk-ins from staff, students, and the public. This position receives direction from the Associate Director of Human Resources and exercises no supervision. Note: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Attach a brief statement addressing how you acquired each of the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities through your education, personal experience or previous employment.

Knowledge of: 1. Proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 2. Principles and practices of confidential records management and file maintenance, both physical and electronic. 3. Pertinent Federal, State, and college laws, rules, and regulations. 4. Operating various electronic equipment, such as computers, scanners, copiers, recording devices, etc. Skills in: 5. Analyzing data and drawing sound conclusions. 6. Work independently without close supervision using critical thinking skills. 7. Proficiency with Microsoft applications, internal software, and assistive devices and software. 8. Communicating clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. 9. Basic record keeping, correspondence, and proofreading. Ability to: 10. Execute superior customer service when dealing with a wide range of populations. 11. Create and maintain accurate records and reports. 12. Learn new software quickly and stay abreast of new software applications. 13. Perform responsible and sometimes difficult secretarial work involving the use of independent judgment. 14. Read and follow oral and written instructions. 15. Organize and prioritize projects to meet deadlines. 16. Uphold confidentiality at all times. 17. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

 


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activates. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.


 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: More than one year of work experience.
