Executive Director of the ICC Foundation

Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas, seeks a dynamic and proven leader to serve as the next Executive Director of the ICC Foundation. This senior officer is responsible for fund development on behalf of the College and works closely with the Board President, the Foundation Board of Directors and College President to accomplish the philanthropic goals of the College. Work includes donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and appreciation activity and alumni relations.

Position Information

The Executive Director of the Foundation position is a full-time, twelve-month salaried position. Competitive compensation based upon experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree in any field required, masters degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a senior-level advancement professional in education is preferred.
  • Proven success in the solicitation of major and principal gifts.
  • Experience must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of backgrounds and constituencies.
  • Essential characteristics include a strong work ethic, personal integrity, written and verbal communication skills, professional demeanor, detail-oriented behaviors, and strategic thinking and planning abilities.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends. Significant travel is required for this position.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and hold a valid drivers license.



Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for organizing, leading, and aligning the fundraising efforts of the College.
  • Implement and track the fundraising efforts of the College Strategic plan.
  • Provide oversight and management of Foundation financial resources working with the Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Ensure compliance with IRS and accounting requirements of a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
  • Develop, train, and recognize all volunteers, including those who serve on the Foundation Board.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the ICC Foundation Board of Directors. Work with the President of the Board to publish and distribute annual reports and prepare meeting agendas. Coordinate communication for the Board.
  • Work closely with the College administration to identify institutional needs and be well prepared to represent those needs to potential funders.
  • Maintain a dynamic portfolio of potential donors to secure major, capital, and planned gifts.
  • Create and execute fundraising plans that utilize best practices in annual, major, and planned gift programs to meet fundraising goals.
  • Provide leadership to the Colleges Centennial Campaign, working closely with the campaign leadership committee to realize the goals of the College.
  • Effectively engage alumni and supporters in ways that link their own previous ICC experiences to the experiences of current students.
  • Be a proactive partner with the ICC President and a contributing member of the Colleges senior leadership team.
  • Become an active member of the Independence, KS community. Help to build on the goodwill that the College receives from the community and convert long-lasting relationships into giving opportunities.
  • Serve on various campus committees.
  • Be willing and able to work evenings and weekends, as needed. Travel within the region may be necessary to cultivate and work with donors and to represent the College.
  • Other duties as assigned.
