The Academic Advisor position is Open Until Filled so that we can find the ideal candidate for our amazing team.

As a Full-Time Classified Academic Advisor, you will work with new and continuing students in both individual and group settings to help students explore educational and career options, establish academic and life goals, and implement related action plans. The advisor will need to possess positive energy, exceptional communication skills, creativity, and enthusiasm for helping students through the entire educational journey. This position will assess students' academic level, attends to student academic inquiries, assist in the resolution of individual academic needs, and advises on academic program changes. Advises and assists students in the development of individual academic student education plans and class schedules, helps students with resources, develops and maintains appropriate files and records, and has a deep understanding of all academic programs, and works closely with all campus departments, staff, and faculty. This position requires ongoing communication and liaison work with other colleges and universities regarding transfer programs. The position assures that students have access to academic advising to meet their education and career goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or associate degree plus equivalent experience.
  • Twelve months of professional experience in an educational setting providing academic advising, career counseling, student retention, or related student services.
  • Demonstrated presentation, seminar, workshop, and/or teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with individuals from diverse social, economic, ethnic, academic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and technology.
Preferred (Not Required) Qualifications:
  • Two years of community college academic advising or counseling.
