BRCC is accepting applications for the following Full-time position (full state benefits):

Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50 years. Its comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. The College also provides non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry.

Position will: Run circuits for lighting, receptacle and equipment loads. Ensure all campus interior and exterior lighting is in working order by replacing bulbs, ballasts and fixtures as needed. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions on equipment such as frequency drives, lighting controls, ADA door openers, battery backup inverter systems, motor starters for HVAC fan and pump motors, building generators. Perform and document testing on emergency egress lighting, exit signs and other electrical systems assigned through an electronic preventative maintenance program. Make necessary repairs. Perform electrical and non-electrical tasks submitted from the college community thru an electronic work request system. Routinely check and adjust equipment controls for proper operation; including but not limited to; generators, fire alarm systems, emergency egress and exit lighting systems. Identify, analyze and correct unusual and technical problems which develop in the operation of equipment. Interpret electrical schematics, building blueprints, and technical manuals to effectively install, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems. Adhere to safety protocols while working with electrical systems and equipment. Maintain inventory of electrical materials for stock. Document and coordinate disposal of electrical hazardous materials. Guide and provide oversight when outside electrical contractors are required for campus projects. Assist other B&G trades, by performing general maintenance including but not limited to; patching and painting of walls, set up facilities for special events, remove snow from walks, move furniture and other duties as asigned.
