Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Director of Finance and Administration leads the management and direction of The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Centers financial and administrative functions. With direct oversight of the accounting/finance, information technology, and human resources of The Clarice, The Director of Finance and Administration partners with governing campus entities to ensure that the organization adheres to the policy, procedures, and processes as set forth by the University of Maryland and its adjoining foundations. The Director of Finance and Administration is a key strategic advisor to the Executive Office of The Clarice, as related to the organizational budget, business operations and the activation of human resources related initiatives. In addition to Clarice center operations, The Director works closely with the College of Arts and Humanities, Division of Finance and Administration, the University of Maryland College Park Foundation and University System of Maryland Foundation, to ensure that The Clarices financial and administrative standing is accurately reported as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:
  • 7- 10 years of experience in Financial Management and oversight.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of endowment and grant account management and reconciliation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Minimum of 5 years of University of Maryland or University System of Maryland experience.
  • Strong non-profit/university accounting background.
  • Experience with University of Maryland operating systems; KFS (Kuali Financial System), eTerp. Human Resource Management, PHR, Advancement.
  • Experience with financial database management.
  • Experience with Podio project management software.
  • Experience working in the arts.

Additional Information:

  • Salary range: $120,000 – $128,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No visa sponsorship is offered for this position.
  • The University also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 22 Days Annual Leave; 15 Days Sick Leave; 3 Days Personal Leave; 15 Paid Holidays; Tuition Remission; Health, Dental, Vision and Prescription coverage.
  • This position may be telework eligible up to two (2) days per week, subject to supervisor approval.
