Adjunct Faculty - Social Work

Job Description

Western Wyoming Community College (Western) invites applications for Adjuncts for Fall 2024. This position will consist of teaching no more than 9 credits per Fall/Spring semesters and no more than 6 credits per Summer semester from a distance via the institutions learning management system (Canvas). Successful candidates will teach online courses in social work as needed/assigned. If possible, there may be opportunities to teach on the Rock Springs campus. The candidate will be responsible for the assessing of students based on program goals and course objectives; maintain appropriate contact with students in the course; develop good working relationships with discipline-related professionals in the Colleges Service area; and be active in ones field of expertise. 
It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, and competent manner, and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual must follow all college policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines as they relate to this position.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Duties: 
Teaching responsibilities of undergraduate courses in Social Work, specifically topics in domestic violence and sexual assault, case management, and ethics. Other courses may be assigned to fit the successful candidates expertise and program demand as approved by the School Chair.

Other Duties: 
  • Timely submission of course rosters, syllabi, and mid-term & final grades.
  • Completion of required workshops, course assessments, and evaluations as approved by the School Chair. 
  • Must adhere to College and Department of Education faculty standards, policies, and expectations.
  • Submit program assessment data as required by the School Chair or the Department Facilitator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Abilities)
  1. Masters degree in social work or masters degree in a related field, with 18 graduate credits in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  2. Must be able to teach various courses including SOWK (Social Work) 2300 Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse
  3. Earned letter grade of “B” or higher in graduate courses relevant for position.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in college-level teaching; teaching experience as a teaching assistant or adjunct instructor may count toward the requirement.
  5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diversity of colleagues and students.
Equivalency Statement
For those who do not exactly meet all the minimum qualifications, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which has provided comparable knowledge and abilities, may be acceptable.
