Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Chap Center/Fitness Center coordinate, supervise, and direct personnel and contractors during Chap Center activities and ensures that the maintenance, operations, and housekeeping tasks of Chap Center are completed prior to, during, and after the event(s) as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or Associates degree plus two years of experience working at an arena or multi-purpose facility
  • People skills to meet a wide range of clients and personnel
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland Colleges insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Hospitality, or Sports and Entertainment Management or a related field
  • Experience in event center operations
  • Experience with computer, scoreboard, and P.A.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the physical operations of the Chap Center including set up and tear down of all stages, curtains, floors, tables, chairs, barricades, equipment, and other furnishings and equipment
  • In coordination with the Director, provide guidance and support to temporary custodial staff from set-up to clean-up
  • Work in conjunction with the Maintenance Department to keep facility and facility equipment in working order
  • Must be open to change and be able to adapt quickly
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and order as necessary
  • Aid clients during move-in and move out of events
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Practice and encourage safe work habits for all operations staff
  • Seek continual improvement of operations to decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service
  • Manage building-related projects (including light maintenance)
  • Prepare written documents and reports
  • Maintain positive relationships and contribute to a team atmosphere
  • Assist in facilitating the Directors and Fitness Center Coordinators roles during absences
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and pull hands overhead
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
  • This position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • Capable of climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, and repetitive twisting
  • Must be able to bend, reach overhead, and lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Duties indoors and some outdoors
  • Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events
  • Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Security Sensitivity

Min Salary

$40,100 (annualized salary)

Max Salary

$42,000 (annualized salary)

Pay Statement

Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
