This position reports to the Executive Director of Workforce Development and Career Education. The primary function is to provide leadership and oversight for the development and management of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing. The Director will collaborate with other college constituencies, such as academic departments, the RVCC Foundation, and Enrollment Management, to expand program opportunities. The Director will develop Statewide collaborations with industry and higher education institutions to expand the development of the advanced manufacturing industry. The Director, working with the Executive Director of Workforce Development and Career Education, shall be responsible for planning and directing the development of goals and objectives for the Advanced Manufacturing Program.

The Director will collaborate with the Executive Director of Workforce Development and Career Education and is responsible for the development of appropriate business plans as initiatives are launched, with such plans clearly articulating equate revenue sources, including tuition and grant monies, to achieve a credible likelihood of becoming a revenue-generating operation. The Director will be responsible for leading the planning, organization, scheduling, and direction of Advanced Manufacturing programs to meet the needs of our community and its surrounding region. The. The Director will analyze trends in employment and Investigate grant opportunities to identify initiatives that will provide:

1. Programs for jobs that focus on the future.

2. Programs that will produce a living wage for its graduates or a career ladder to a living wage.

3. Programs that lead from a short certificate through an associate degree (and if appropriate to a related bachelor's degree with participating R1 institutions).

4. Programs that incorporate the best of career planning.

5. Programs that can be delivered on or off campus, at remote sites, and online.

6. Programs that educate for regional needs.

7. Program that provides opportunities for internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, and other high-impact practices.

Essential Duties:

Direct and deliver professional development, training and technical assistance solutions to business and industry to assist in identifying and determining training and technical assistance needs and solutions through sales lifecycle.

In-depth understanding of the apprenticeship model of education.

Participate in grants available through external partners (i.e. New Jersey Department of Labor, etc.) to clients as applicable to meet their training and technical assistance goals.

Conduct advisory committee meetings, client meeting, workshops, grant meetings, project meetings, network events as needed to meet annual goals and objectives.

Coordinate the development and revision of curriculum to ensure that it reflects the needs of local employers.

Maximize student enrollment and completion and minimize time-to-completion for students enrolled in manufacturing programs.

Develop and schedule new course offerings and provide input on program expansion.

Develop appropriate staffing levels and facilitate the coordination of instructors, evaluation of faculty and personnel hired for programs and activities.

Develop program goals and objectives.

Coordinate with Marketing Division and other program directors, the production of the fall, spring and summer course brochures including design, development, and distribution.

Participate in program outreach/ recruitment to secondary schools and general public.

Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:


Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or in a related field required.

5 to 7 years of successful administrative experience in higher education working with workforce programs and demonstrated advanced manufacturing industry experience.

The position requires demonstrated progressive leadership, experience in the development, organization and management of instructional programs.

Incumbent must have demonstrated successful collaborative experience in working with various government entities and industry.

Strong academic values, ability to work with a wide range of constituents, exceptional oral, written and interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial spirit and sensitivity to the diverse student bodies of community colleges.

Proven track record of accomplishments involving workforce training and development.

Position requires nontraditional office conditions and work week.

Travel will be required between the main campus, off-campus sites, government, education and business offices, as well as other locations.

Some evenings and weekends will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering specializing in manufacturing, preferred.
