Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College is seeking an Academic Advisor (Part-Time).

As part of the advisement team, this position will be responsible for monitoring student intake, including in person, phone, online, and email; assisting students with appointments; general questions, and engaging in outreach and retention efforts. Performs the more technically demanding student support tasks, including extensive academic advising student support using PeopleSoft (SIS) and other technology.

To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus. Remote work is not available.

Essential Functions

 
  • Provides academic advising support services in-person, hybrid, and virtually that provides ongoing connection with students to determine needs and referrals to the department. Connects students with information to campus resources by email or phone. Assist with consortium agreement, graduation applications, and other processing/requests needed using PeopleSoft (SIS) or other technology. Connects students and department teammembers with additional support services and resources as needed.
  • Participates in retention projects related to student success and retention. Maintains resource information, presentations, reports, correspondence, and promotional material and shares as needed.
  • Attends departmental meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities; performs other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Desired Qualifications

  • One (1) year experience working in an environment with student services procedures including, advisement, admissions and records / registration, or online Student Information System (e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.) and working with federal and state requirements (e.g., lawful presence/residency determination, FERPA, etc.)
  • One (1) or more years of experience working in academic advising, admissions and records, recruitment and outreach, welcome/information center, and/or financial aid in a college or university setting.
  • One (1) year experience with Guided Pathways providing student support and academic program selection using fields of interest.
  • Bachelors degree or higher
