Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Administrative Manager in the Office of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management (HRSTM). The work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 31 position. This position is eligible for telework up to two days per week.  This eligibility is subject to change based on the needs of the unit.

The Administrative Manager is responsible for providing leadership, oversight and guidance for the day-to-day office operations.  The Administrative Manager handles special projects and provides administrative, managerial and/or technical support for systems, processes, communications, meetings, and other related activities.

 Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership, oversight and guidance for HRSTMs office operations including but not limited to purchasing/procurement, assigned staff, communications, formulating and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other related activities.
  • Oversee and coordinate all unit planning, reporting, and administrative records management processes and activities.
  • Manage the development and compilation of departmental budget, monitor expenditures and coordinate the preparation of monthly reports.
  • Oversee the preparation, compilation, and submission of HRSTM materials prepared for administrative action by the College Board of Trustees, President, Cabinet Members, and other governance bodies.
  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of HRSTM sponsored programs and events (e.g., retirement and recognition).
  • Assist the Vice President and HR Leadership Team with scheduling and planning meetings, retreats, and trainings.
  • Schedule, assign, inspect and review the work of others to ensure work is performed according to established standards.
  • Draft, proofread, and edit special memoranda, letters, reports, and presentations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and/or any combination of education, training, and experience providing an understanding of the field and the ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Five years of progressively responsible administrative/managerial/technical experience in an institute of higher learning or similar public service environment.
  • Ability to take initiative, act to achieve results, and work independently.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the fundamental principles and practices of project management.
  • Experience working with internal and external groups and supervising and/or leading the work of others.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the field of Human Resources or directly with HR-related functions and processes.
  • Familiarity with higher education practices and policies.
  • Knowledge of the Colleges policies, mission, vision, and the role of the College within the community, the State of Maryland, and higher education.

Hiring Range $76,679 to $99,671 annually. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity.  Please include a complete resume including all relevant and related work experience.
