We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
 
Job Summary:
Responsible to prepare and deliver coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to the college's core values, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. Meet professional standards for faculty in accordance with college policies and procedures.
 
Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with the course syllabus and college policy.
  • Continue to update and revise course content and teaching methodology in order to maintain currency and relevance.
  • Maintain familiarity with current texts, materials, teaching aids and techniques relative to courses within the discipline and recommend their adoption when appropriate.
  • Actively seek ways to improve instruction.
  • Provide advice and/or assistance to adjunct faculty in regard to course content and instructional materials.
  • Hold office hours at times which will be most convenient for students and to meet the needs of ISD partners. Meet with students as needed by appointment.
  • Collaborate with Collin College Career Counselors, Coordinators, Collin College K-12 Partnerships office to advise and assist students during ongoing registration process.
  • Actively participate in discipline and division meetings, All College Day and take advantage of in-house professional development such as Faculty Development Day, eLC training and other opportunities when appropriate. College service can include college-wide task forces and committees, but Collin College recruitment, working with College and Career Counselors in the ISD, and service directly supporting dual credit programming is a required element of service.
  • Participate in full regalia in official graduation ceremonies.
  • Establish annual goals mutually determined with director, academic associate dean or dean, including personal and professional growth plans. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic disciplines.
  • Contribute to and participate in staff development programs. Participate in community activities and services.
 
Supplemental Functions
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and core values.
  • Teaching assignments may be on one or more of the college's campuses or offsite locations and may include concurrent enrollment, distance education, evening and weekend programs, online instruction and other instructional modalities. Non-teaching assignments include instructional development, academic advising and assisting students, registration assignments, participating in college-wide activities and task forces, and other appropriate responsibilities. These responsibilities may be scheduled within the flexible 180-day faculty calendar.
 
Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.
 
Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited institution is required. Academic preparation in teaching field to include eighteen (18) semester hours in the discipline to be taught.
Teaching experience is desired.
