Organizational Overview: Bergin College of Canine Studies, home of the Assistance Dog Institute, has a singular vision: to advance the human-canine partnership through research and education. That vision is expressed in a growing range of programs, inspired, and informed by the breakthrough of Dr. Bonnie Bergin. Using leading-edge academic coursework along with daily hand-on experience, students can expand their knowledge and skills for scholarly or career purposes, or enhance the parameters of their existing specialty using the unique perspective and potential provided by human-canine studies.

Position Overview: The Chief Operating Officer maintains the fiscal and administrative responsibilities for Bergin College of Canine Studies. This position will be expected to oversee day-to-day business operations and process for Bergin College of Canine Studies. This position will take place in an office setting and is a highly administratively focused role.

Responsibilities:

Participate in fiscal and business operational management:

  • HR and bookkeeping staff
  • Insurance policies
  • Assist with yearly audit and 990
  • College equipment and supplies (purchase, backup, provide technical support and maintenance of college computers)
  • Electronic document maintenance

Assist with regulatory requirements:

  • Support compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Meet College Policies & Procedures
  • Compliance with the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Department of Education (eZ-Audit, Campus Security Report, Campus Safety and Security Survey, Renewal of Program Participation Agreement (PPA) and iPeds reporting)
  • HECC (Oregon State) annual reporting
  • Accreditor reports

Supervise college campus:

  • Facilities (Campus buildings, apartments, and dormitories)

Custodial and grounds keeping staff

  • Campus grounds
  • Campus vehicles

Assist with student financial aid:

  • Work with third party servicer, ECM, on Title IV requirements.

Provide long range academic strategic planning in conjunction management.

Experience & Skills Required:

Bachelor degree.

A minimum of three years working at a college, university, or two-year community college.

A minimum of four years in organizational and supervisorial management, two of which would have been spent assisting in the fiscal administration of a community or two-year college or university.

Previous experience working with, having a strong knowledge of, or interest in working around and with canines.

Effectiveness in a regulatory environment.

Knowledge of and an ability to manage the operations of a private postsecondary degree granting educational institution.

Strong management, reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Compatibility with the organizations direction and purpose.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 per year
