Financial Aid Advisor

Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Financial Aid Advisor provides student-focused service and guidance regarding student aid programs, educational funding options, and the financial aid application process. This is a 12-month staff position reporting to the District Director for Financial Aid.
 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with some college experience required
  • Associates Degree preferred with previous financial aid experience; OR, two (2) years of experience in financial aid, student counseling, or directly related experience
  • Prior experience in computer data entry.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite  (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Prior experience operating office equipment in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Must be passionate about the Customer/Student Service experience
  • Positive, approachable, collaborative personality.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

  1. Report to the District Director of Financial Aid and assist in administering the total financial aid program. 
  2. Assist students with the completion of FAFSA (Free Application of Federal Student Aid)
  3. Assist and counsel students with the completion of Student Verification and Loans. 
  4. Assist Enrollment Specialists and other staff members with FAFSA nights at high schools. 
  5. Cary out functions in the receptionist area, which include greeting students, answering the telephone, and answering students questions about financial aid.
  6. Coordinate Work-Study Program. 
  7. Assist financial aid counselors in awarding a students financial aid. 
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid or other college administrators. 
  9. Inform students on Pell and Loan procedures.
  10. Maintain current knowledge of Federal Aid Program regulations.
  11. Cancel multiple enrollments in SFP using SFP, Campus Key, Notepad++, HTML Formatter, and Postman.
  12. Contact students with blank EFC on the FAFSA. 
  13. Assist with registration and orientation.
  14. Distribute weekly reports to Pell Counselors, Loan officer, advisors, and directors. 
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the District Director of Financial Aid.
