Organization Development and Learning Specialist, Principal

Your Role

The Career and Leadership Development team provides opportunities for career growth at all levels of the organization through building a culture of learning, galvanizing career ownership and offering leadership development programs that prepare leaders to excel and advance in their careers.

As an Organization Development and Learning Specialist, Principal, you will play a key role in strategizing and delivering on all aspects of leadership development across levels. A primary focus of this role will be the design and enterprise-wide launch of the High Performing Teams Program, intended to help teams identify targeted development opportunities and tailor their learning to maximize collective impact. This role will report to the Director, Leadership Development.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Manage execution of short- and long-range strategic plans for effective development, engagement and utilization of human resources
  • Manage execution of practices, processes and programs that enable the company's talent strategy
  • Manage execution of the organization's training and development strategy so that the skills, capabilities and performance of employees meet the organization's current and future needs
  • Ensure all training and development activities are conducted efficiently, cost-effectively, and in accordance with the organization's policies and standards
  • Utilize human capital data practices and strategies that enable decisions regarding the effective development, engagement and utilization of human resources
  • Develop and execute short and long-term program strategies for leadership development initiatives
  • Drive execution of leadership development programs using project, stakeholder, change, vendor and budget management skills
  • Partner with key partners within and beyond our team to contribute to a positive and cohesive talent experience informed by data (e.g., Career Mobility, Performance Management, Employee Engagement, People Analytics and Reporting)
  • Specific Project Example: Own end-to-end program strategy, content development, and program management for the High Performing Teams Program, including analyzing learning needs, designing program strategies, building stakeholder alignment, using instructional design to develop learning content, managing program delivery, and evaluating program outcomes

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Requires mastery level knowledge and skills within Organizational Development, specifically Leadership and Team Development, with broad understanding of other areas within Human Resources
  • Requires thought leadership: Demonstrated ability to bring strategic, enterprise-wide and innovative thought to established practices, programs, and processes. Uses critical and creative thinking to come to the best outcomes
  • Requires instructional design: Demonstrated ability to design learning modules and content, ideally using the ADDIE and design thinking frameworks
  • Requires data and analysis: Experience collecting and analyzing data to inform a perspective and evaluate program impact
  • Requires project management: Experience managing complex, enterprise-wide projects with aggressive timelines independently; demonstrated ability to be organized and show attention to detail, establish alignment, meet deadlines, and keep everyone informed of project status in a proactive way
  • Requires consultative mindset: Ability to understand stakeholder needs, ask the right questions, conduct root cause analysis, build and maintain stakeholder buy-in, use data to develop a point of view and customize deliverables to stakeholder needs
  • Requires results orientation: Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities with the ability to drive for results. Quick learner who can come up to speed quickly and use experience and judgment to make progress independently


Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 120120.00 to $ 180180.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
